PURPOSE:
This position is part of a multi-step progression from URD Apprentice Lineman I to URD Lineman. It is expected to master all aspects of the URD Journeyman Lineman's essential duties for the Company. Lower steps in this classification are expected to progress into all facets of these duties. The Apprenticeship Program is designed to prepare an employee to serve as a URD Journeyman Lineman responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of overhead and underground residential distribution systems on voltages up to 25 KV.

PURPOSE:
Overseeing, supervising and participating in the installation of new construction underground residential distribution (URD) power lines, auxiliary infrastructure and equipment. This position is expected to possess a mastery of all aspects of the URD Foreman essential duties as well as meet the supervisory and leadership requirements of the Company. This is a working position.
Essential duties:
- Always comply with proper safety standards/ procedures and work practices according to Infratech or the customer, whichever standard is more stringent.
- Report all personal injuries & vehicle accident I incidents immediately to supervisor or manager.
- Responsibilities include crew safety and public safety, crew production, quality control, work documentation for billing requirements, and maintaining employee files and records. Develop and maintain relationships with the customer. Communicate effectively with the customer, other contractors, other utilities, and other Infratech personnel to coordinate, collaborate, and facilitate joint projects.
- Install URD cable, splices, terminations, transformers in de-energized new construction environment. Makes transformer connections as specified or directed using a variety of splices, terminations, connectors, or clamps. Works above ground on poles using climbers and fall restraint device or operating man lift equipment, bucket truck, or other specialized equipment.
- Routes or re-routes URD power lines over, under or around existing facilities and structures, regularly working in close proximity and to energized lines. Selects and uses a variety of tools and makes use of personal protective equipment as required in the performance of work and safe work practices. Has minimal exposure to energized lines/ equipment.
- Installs URD equipment using a variety of hand tools, equipment and power tools.
- May install new construction URD streetlights & cable, working with secondary voltages.
- Performs line switching or sectionalizing as directed to energize and new construction work to check voltage etc.
- Inspects URD lines, riser, transformers and equipment for signs of damage or wear and reports deficiencies.
- Duties include carrying tools, materials, equipment and other such operations involved in the constructing and maintaining URD facilities.
- Assists in on-the-job training of apprentices and other crew members in maintenance and construction of power lines.
- Responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of work and crew assignments, PPE requirements, tools / equipment needs including all record keeping associated with the job.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a certificate or verification of completion of an industry recognized or accredited Journeyman Lineman Course or Training Program.
