Summary

Since leaving the Investor-Owned Utility environment in 2008, Jeff has held numerous senior level leadership roles with multiple regional and national contractors (ESOP based, publicly traded and privately held). In these roles, he was responsible and accountable for the safety of the workforce, the quality of work produced for the clients and the financial results for the company stakeholders. Career

After receiving his Electrical Engineering degree from N.C. State University, Jeff began his career as an Associate Engineer for Carolina Power & Light company. He also worked as a summer intern for CP&L during the construction of the Harris Nuclear plant while earning his
degree. During the next 24 years, he progressed through the ranks at CP&L, spending several years in both the Transmission and Distribution organizations in various leadership positions. During this time, CP&L acquired Florida Power Corp and became known as Progress Energy (now part of Duke Energy). Jeff was instrumental in developing the first Transmission Live Line Bare Hand crew at Progress Energy – Carolinas. He also served as the company’s representative to the SEE Mutual Assistance Committee and was “baptized by fire” as he stepped into that role in 2004 just as the first of 6 hurricanes that year made landfall in the Progress Energy Florida territory. It was during this time that Jeff developed and maintained close relationships with numerous utility companies that participated in the industry mutual assistance groups. While at Progress, Jeff had responsibility for negotiating contracts and managing the performance of the Distribution overhead and underground contractors working in the Carolinas and Florida as well as the vegetation management contractors in the three-state territory.
