USDOL-Registered Lineman Apprenticeship

The Infratech Line Technician Career Path

We’re proud to offer the Infratech Lineman Career Path, a United States Department of Labor (USDOL) accredited apprenticeship program. Through this program, you’ll take part in over 570 hours of technical instruction and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training, with structured mentorship and leadership development at every step.

  • Step One: Foundation & Safety Courses

    An introduction to utility construction, including jobsite safety, tool identification, and work methods, with structured mentorship.

  • Step Two: Basic Line Construction

    Take on field responsibilities while learning the fundamentals for underground distribution, material installation, and equipment operation.

  • Step Three: Class C Lineman

    Perform entry-level work with direct supervision, while building the foundational overhead and underground line construction skills needed to succeed.

  • Step Four: Advanced Construction

    Take courses on transformer fundamentals, service installation, energized work awareness, and switching concepts.

  • Step Five: Class B Lineman

    An intermediate-level position, demonstrating competency across multiple disciplines, including troubleshooting and restoration.

  • Step Six: Leadership Development

    Advance your leadership skills with classes in crew coordination, advanced distribution construction, mentoring junior employees, and planning skills. 

  • Step Seven: Class A Lineman

    Expand your capabilities through technical proficiency, crew leadership, project execution, and apprentice development.

  • Step Eight: Journeyman Lineman

    Reach the highest level of proficiency after mastering required competencies. Journeyman-level professionals lead crews, mentor apprentices, and independently execute work.
